Staff Tax Accountant

We are seeking a full-time Senior Tax Accountant to join our team and serve as a strategic partner to the Management Team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and supporting trust, estate, and gift tax filings across the firm. This position requires strong leadership and collaboration skills, as you will oversee the estate and trust department, ensuring timely and accurate tax submissions.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing the estate and trust department, including supervising and guiding staff members.
  • Ensure the timely submission of tax returns by managing and monitoring all relevant deadlines.
  • Analyze estate and trust documents to verify accuracy and compliance in tax filings.
  • Prepare and review estate, trust, and gift tax returns, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Prepare and review individual income tax returns to meet client needs.
  • Collaborate with the administrative department to assemble and produce finalized tax returns, manage extension requests, and oversee completion processes.
  • Generate E-Filing reports and track outstanding E-File requirements to ensure timely submission.
  • Monitor firm budgets and track actual client productivity, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
  • Support the partners by performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in tax accounting, with a focus on estate, trust, and gift tax returns.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation is strongly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in tax preparation software and accounting tools, with strong knowledge of tax codes and regulations related to estates, trusts, and gifts.
  • Leadership: Proven experience supervising and mentoring junior staff, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills to review and ensure accuracy in all tax filings and documentation.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks efficiently, especially during busy tax seasons.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise with internal teams and clients.
  • Problem Solving: Proactive and resourceful in resolving tax-related issues and improving processes.
