VP of Operations / Regional Vice President

SUMMARY: The Regional Vice President role is responsible for the successful execution of all sales and operational functions pertaining to their designated region. This role oversees and leads a variety of teams that are accountable for maintaining safety, productivity, quality control, labor costs, sales, the movement of and recruitment of manpower, the procurement of projects/contracts and all other activities impacting the successful completion of profit goals set forth by the Board of Directors. Additionally, the regional vice president is expected to work closely with general contractors and/or customers to effectively communicate project objectives/goals and ensure that the company is represented in a manner congruent with the company’s expectation of professionalism.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensure the achievement of regional safety and productivity objectives by effectively managing operation teams and delegating resources appropriately.
• Strategic planning and execution to enhance profitability, productivity and efficiency throughout the region’s operations
• Maintain awareness of the external competitive landscape, opportunities for expansion, customers, markets, and new industry developments and standards. Be aware of any opportunities.
• Work with the Board of Directors to establish profit goals and formulate business plans to reach or exceed those goals. Monitor and report on the success of goal achievement to the executive leadership.
• Manage preconstruction and estimating teams to ensure that the region’s sales and profit goals are achieved.
• Manage the development of the office and field staff abilities through training and mentoring.
• Manage recruitment of field employees to ensure projects are effectively staffed.
• Manage and execute initiatives set forth by the Board of Directors to ensure that the region’s operational priorities are aligned with the company’s total direction.
• Maintain an active role in Industry related events and organizations to help further our relationship with industry partners.
 Maintains customer relationships, sets the example for others to follow when communicating with clients.
 Understands legal requirements, including reviewing contracts, lien rights (private vs. public) labor laws, prevailing wage compliance, small business or minority owned business conditions.
• Maintain strong relationships with peer executives at clients, architectural and engineering firms, and trade partners to support the regional business plan.
• Continually investigate and introduce process improvement measures and present suggestions to the executive leadership for consideration.
• Develop and direct the management of quality assurance practices for all work performed by regional personnel.
• Utilize a proactive approach to anticipate and resolve any potential issues including, but not limited to; issues involving employees in a subordinate role and jobsite issues that may compromise safety and/or impact production and the successful completion of profit goals.
• Facilitate, support and foster company culture initiatives and overall mission at the regional level

• Represents the client at charity and employee events and sets the standard for their team to follow.
• Ensure that client is in compliance with local codes, rules, and laws.
• Lead key sale pursuits, presentations, and interviews.
• Identity and address leading indicators for safety related issues and develop corrective action plans. • Ensure lessons learned are communicated across project teams.
• Assist other regions in client introductions and relationship development.
• This role may be required to travel up to 50% of the time, depending on the leadership needs within the region.

REQUIREMENTS:
• 5+ years of working in a senior leadership role within the electrical contracting industry. 
 Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, or an industry-related field.
• Previous experience in an executive leadership role within the electrical contracting industry preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage large-scale operations and the successful execution of profit goals
• Strong, first-hand knowledge and experience related to industry-specific strategic planning.
• A solid understanding of how to produce and utilize business-related reports such as profit and loss statements (income statements), balance sheets, statements of cash flow, projections / forecasting, labor productivity report, balance sheets and other relevant financial and project controls, etc.
• Knowledge regarding a variety of industry-related compliance requirements such as safety protocol, employment law, contractor licensing, etc.
• Comfortable utilizing electronic operating systems, communication methods, and presentation tools (Microsoft Office, Blue Beam, etc.)
• Knowledge and understanding of negotiation contract law & pricing.
• Knowledge and understanding of conflict management training and experience.
• Strong communication skills verbal, written and public speaking.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
• This role may require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand to complete other administrative functions.
• Ability to fly as needed.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
 This role operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.
• Jobsite visits where they may be certain weather conditions such as rain or high heat as well as high noise levels.
